Current changes in the world of work offer new opportunities for the gardening industry.

The corona pandemic is changing the world of work. Debates about mobile and flexible working models have taken off again. Since the first lockdown at the latest, the topic of remote working has had its own dynamic. But what opportunities do such developments offer the green industry? Above all, the equipment of the workplace stands for new possibilities: Studies repeatedly show that green significantly increases working comfort. The majority of office workers rate the influence of plants on well-being as positive. A green working environment increases concentration and improves the indoor climate.

More efficiency and creativity

Well-being is a key term for New Work today, that is, for a work culture in which people can realize themselves and develop their potential. The inspiring design of the work environment plays an essential role. This includes, among other things, the equipment with natural elements. Biophilic design wants to bring nature into our interiors and use its positive effects. These are described for offices with an increase in efficiency, creativity and well-being. In addition, green in the workplace should lead to a reduction in absenteeism and stress-related illnesses. The easiest way to do this is to set up real plants.

Green diversity in the office

Many new office forms such as coworking spaces use the advantages of room greening. Plants should have an inspiring effect here with their soothing and at the same time homely charisma. They also serve as natural air fresheners. The gardening industry has a large selection of indoor plants for green concepts in offices. Not only classic plant pots are suitable for beautifying the workplace, but also shelves or climbing systems for green on walls and ceilings. spoga+gafa exhibitors offer a wide variety of solutions for this. Offices thus become feel-good spaces in which plants and employees blossom.

Remote working as a future model

Growing digitization has long meant that mobile forms of work have increased. In the pandemic, working from home is no longer just a trend, but a reality for many. According to a survey carried out by the IT association Bitkom last September, a good four out of ten companies in Germany have drawn up guidelines for working from home. Another 37 percent plan or discuss such guidelines. A large majority of startups in this country also rely on remote working. New spatial solutions for office work in your own four walls are therefore increasingly in demand. Plants play a special role in this. As in the office, they create an environment at home that allows both wellbeing and concentration to be achieved.

Green upgrading of the home office

In addition to trend plants such as succulents and cacti, there are a large number of suitable indoor plants for greening the workspace at home. Dragon or rubber trees and other green classics are not only decorative, but also robust. Plant stairs, flower stools or side tables really show off in the home office. Flower hanging baskets and floating shelves are also suitable as eye-catchers or as room dividers for separating the workplace from the living room. Plant frames or shelves with climbing green look like vertical mini gardens. As soon as it gets warmer again, the home office moves to the terrace or balcony.

Home office and flexible working models will be with us for even longer. Not only the Corona measures contribute to this, but also the increasing need for self-determined work. More and more people want to be able to decide how and where to work. Whether in the home office or in the open-plan office - plants are essential for a good room climate and a pleasant working atmosphere.
