Responsible Gardens
Responsible Gardens is the guiding theme of the upcoming spoga+gafa, which will open its doors in the Cologne exhibition halls from 16 to 18 June 2024. Responsible action for and in gardens is thus the focus of the world's largest garden and BBQ trade fair. Together with the green sector, it focuses on responsibility in helping to shape a sustainable and healthy environment. In this context, "responsibility" also conceals the answer. Together with its exhibitors and trade visitors, spoga+gafa wants to find answers to current challenges. Topics such as resource-saving gardening, fairly produced outdoor furniture, user-friendly gardening tools, efficient BBQ technologies or climate-friendly garden care and irrigation will play a role at the fairground.
Responsibility has many facets
More than ever, many people are passionate about their own garden. They take great pleasure in assuming the responsibility associated with its care and design. They plant native and insect-friendly greenery, use organic fertilisers and other environmentally friendly products, collect rainwater or compost their garden waste. Together with their familiy, neighbours or friends, they maintain communal areas for growing fruits or vegetables, creating green oases in the middle of the city. Responsible action thus has many facets in the personal and ranges from conscious consumption, to outdoor social activities, to self-sufficiency and enhancing one's own or general living environment.
Ideal framework for exchange
With its new leitmotif „Responsible Gardens“, spoga+gafa 2024 aims to promote and support the joy of responsible gardening. With forward-looking presentations and its extensive supporting programme, it offers the ideal framework for this. International companies from the garden sector will come together with trade visitors in the Cologne exhibition halls to exchange information on the latest trends and market developments. What should be considered when it comes to sustainability for outdoor areas? How do you make your garden fit for climate change? What possibilities do new appliances offer for growing and preparing food outdoors? How can outdoor furniture be used more flexibly and garden tools be designed more ergonomically? The exhibitors at spoga+gafa 2024 will present a wide range of new solutions and market-ready products for this purpose.
Garden industry takes responsibility
In view of the current global challenges, the garden industry itself is facing up to its social responsibility. Many exhibitors at spoga+gafa pay attention to resource-saving production, reduce or compensate for their CO2 emissions and use recycled and recyclable materials. For green care, more and more organic soils and fertilisers or insect-friendly plants for the preservation of biodiversity are being brought onto the market. Furthermore, responsible design makes garden tools, barbecues and outdoor furniture more comfortable and easier to use for all generations. In many cases, certificates confirm the tested environmental compatibility or the socially responsible production of current garden products.
Incentive for responsible gardening
As a break from everyday life, gardens or public green spaces offer a way to relate to nature. Even children learn about natural processes and the importance of the seasons when sowing, planting and harvesting. In this way, gardening not only offers fun in one's own doing, but also inspiration for a more responsible approach to the environment. As communally used open spaces, gardens are also places of encounter and understanding. People from different backgrounds and generations come together for relaxation or gardening. Gardening thus not only promotes a connection to nature and well-being, but also cohesion. With its focus on Responsible Gardens, spoga+gafa 2024 aims to inspire, stimulate and encourage gardening with responsibility.
